Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales

We believe that people have the remarkable capacity to overcome the barriers of disadvantage if given the right support and opportunities. So we focus on supporting charities that help people facing multiple disadvantage to move forward with their lives. By providing both financial and practical support, we aim to deliver lasting positive change.

Our programmes - Invest, Enable and Enhance - will help charities break or prevent cycles of disadvantage. We develop and promote practical solutions to enable sustainable futures for charities - made possible by our long standing funding agreement with Lloyds Banking Group - and for disadvantaged people to achieve lasting and positive change in their lives.

Who's entitled to apply?

Small and medium charities (income between £25,000 and £1 million) that are committed to delivering work which breaks or prevents cycles of disadvantage at transition points in people's lives.

How to apply

Applicants can apply for our new grants by visiting www.lloydsbankfoundation.org.uk or calling 0870 411 1223.

Eligibility checklist

This will help charities decide whether you are eligible for a grant and will save you time if you are not. We would encourage all applicants to take the time to learn about our grant programmes and to read our eligibility guidance on our website www.lloydsbankfoundation.org.uk/how-to-apply/eligibility-guidance.

Application and assessment

One of our Grant Managers will arrange to visit you to discuss your application and if appropriate will invite you to complete a full application online. This application will be assessed by a Grant Manager and considered by our Grants Panel where a decision will be made on whether to award a grant.

What is the level of grant available?

The Lloyds Bank Foundation receives ongoing and sustainable funding from Lloyds Banking Group. The Group continues to encourage and support our work in helping those who are most disadvantaged. We only fund charities or charitable incorporated organisations (CIOs) registered with the Charity Commission with at least one year of published accounts covering a 12 month operating period.

We offer flexible and responsive grant making by providing the following three programmes:

Invest

We fund ‘core’ organisational costs related to the day to day running of your charity. These include salaries, rent, utilities, insurance, IT and consumables. We also fund costs associated with the direct delivery of your work, which include volunteer expenses, training, travel, promotion, consumable materials, sessional workers, recruitment and salary costs. Applicants applying to the Invest programme can ask for between £10k and up to £25k per year for between two and six years.

Enable

Enable can fund a range of activity related to the development and improvement of the capability of your organisation e.g. business and service developments and plans; development of monitoring systems; investigation of mergers, partnerships, shared services, contract diversifi cation; consultancy support; quality standards; development of new income streams and enterprise. Enable grants are for up to £15k over two years. Grants are awarded to charities that meet the same basic criteria as the Invest programme but have also identified clear development areas which will support their growth.

Enhance

Enhance is a ‘grants plus’ programme, which provides non financial support to charities. If a charity is awarded an Invest or an Enable grant, the Foundation will work with them to identify whether they would benefit from additional support to complement the grant funding.  Enhance support is not a condition of any grant award and if agreed will be tailored to the specific needs of the charity.

How often are grant applications considered?

The Foundation operates three grant rounds per year. There is a two stage application process, and should you be successful in your initial application you will be invited to submit a full application.
