Renew a library book or other item

You can renew books, DVDs, CDs, and other items online, with our app, by phone, by email or in person at a library. Each option is explained below.

You can renew items up to 5 times in a row as long as no one has reserved it.

Hire charges apply for the renewal of dvds, cds, games and audio books. Click here for current charges and fees.

How to renew online

  • Log in to your library account.
  • Enter your library card number and pin number.
  • Select 'Current Loans'.
  • Select the items you'd like to renew and select 'renew selection' or choose to 'renew all'.

Renew with our app

If you have a smartphone or tablet you can download the Caerphilly Libraries app from the Apple Store, Google Play or Windows Store.

Then:

  • Log in with your library card and pin numbers.
  • Go to 'My Account'.
  • Go to 'Current Loans'.
  • Select the 'renew' button next to the items you'd like to renew.

Renew by phone

  • Have your library card to hand.
  • Call your local library.
  • Ask us to renew your items
  • We will ask you a few further details to confirm you’re the owner of the account

Renew by email

  • Have your library card to hand.
  • Send an email to libraries@caerphilly.gov.uk with the following details:
    • Subject – Renew items on my account
    • Content – Your name, Library Card Number and Postcode
  • We endeavor to respond to all emails within 2 working days.

Renew at a library

Renew your items by visiting any of our libraries. We can do this for you at the counter or you can use a self-service machine.

Renewal of e-Books, e-Magazines or e-Audio

For any of our e-Books, e-Magazines or e-Audio resources, renewals need to be carried out via the relevant website.

Don’t have or know your Pin?

If you don't yet have a PIN or have forgotten it, ask for one next time you are in the library or email us at libraries@caerphilly.gov.uk.

If you gave us your email address when you joined the library, you can also use the ‘Forgot Pin’ Option in the Login section of the library catalogue website and an email will be sent to you automatically.
