Bridges into work

Bridges into Work 2 is an exciting project for people in South East Wales funded by a grant from the European Social Fund.

Where is it available?

Five Local Authority regions; Torfaen (Lead Sponsor), Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent Aneurin Leisure Trust, Bridgend and Merthyr Tydfil have joined together to strategically develop and run Bridges into Work 2.

Who is it for?

It is available to all residents who are economically inactive or long term unemployed and living in non Communities First areas and are aged 25 or over.

What can it offer you?

It provides a boost to individuals and opportunities for improving skills in  areas that are in demand by employers. The aim is to help people in Caerphilly into sustainable employment.

  • Work on an individual basis with an employment support officer towards your chosen career.  Support with job searches, CV writing and personal presentation skills to help you  succeed at interviews
  • Free vocational courses such as food hygiene, first aid, health and safety skills and transferable skills such as literacy and numeracy, confidence building, IT and  formal qualifications
  • Additional support for those facing barriers to working, such as work limiting health conditions, childcare needs and transport.

Why is the scheme important?

The current economic situation in the UK is making finding sustainable employment much tougher. Bridges into Work 2 is working in some of the most deprived areas in Wales where unemployment is already high. Helping people move from economic inactivity to work can be a long process with many interventions required for each individual.

The project partners are planning to use this round of European money to help make a real difference for people in the region.
