Around 80% of the rights of way in the county borough are open and with about 5000 hectares of open access land available for walkers, exploring the countryside couldn't be easier.

Discover the fantastic countryside of Caerphilly county borough on foot. There are several trail guides available and more are currently being developed.

Walking groups

We promote and support walking groups across the county borough, from healthy walking to rambler to adventure groups. Check out our Walk-in your are guide for all walking activities and groups within the county borough.

Healthy Walks

If you have been ill or feel that you aren't fit enough to go for a long walk then try our healthy walks. These are easy, short, half hour walks designed to get you back into the walking habit. We also offer a programme of guided walks throughout the year.

The Caerphilly Challenge Series

The Caerphilly Challenge Series is a walking event attracting over 400 walkers and will continue in 2015.

Cwmcarn Forest

Cwmcarn Forest has some of the best walking in Wales. Choose from the 12 mile circular 'Raven Walk' encompassing Cwmcarn Forest and the Sirhowy and Ebbw Valleys or take the Nantcarn Walk, a short stroll to enjoy the sights and sounds of the stream and lake.
