>Pupils at a Caerphilly comprehensive are celebrating after scooping a cash windfall to fit out their school gym with new equipment.
St Martin's Comprehensive School has been awarded more than £4,500 from the WAG-funded 'Community Focused Schools' Budget. The money has been used to enhance the Fitness Suite at the school and pupils will now be able to enjoy all the benefits of a healthier lifestyle thanks to the investment.
The sum spent has enabled the school to equip the suite with new fitness equipment, mirrors and improved flooring. The school's PE department has also made a contribution towards the scheme.
CCBC Mayor Cllr James Fussell visited the school this week to open the revamped fitness suite, "Pupils at the school are extremely lucky to have these state-of-the-art fitness facilities and I'm sure they will be well used by the whole school community. St Martins Comprehensive now boasts a modern, well-equipped gym which will assist pupils in both their study and reaching desired fitness levels."
Tom Willis (Gwent Dragons captain), Suzi Drane(Welsh Netball captain) and Lottysha Cato (Celtic Dragons Netball Team) also attended to try out the new equipment and they were all impressed with the facilities.
