The Winding House in New Tredegar has been officially approved by CyMAL and Visit Wales as a quality assured visitor attraction.
The new museum for Caerphilly county borough was assessed through the Visitor Attraction Quality Assessment Service (VAQAS), on various aspects such the welcome, friendliness and efficiency of staff, the general appearance of the site and the quality of interpretation offered to visitors.
The assessor praised the "fascinating insight" offered to visitors by the exhibition galleries and historic winding house, and the "excellent facilities" of the Coffee Shop and Gift Shop, stating that the museum "fully merited" its accreditation under VAQAS.
Cllr Ron Davies, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Planning said, "I am thrilled that the Winding House has received approval through the VAQAS scheme. I hope it will help us further develop its potential as a museum and visitor attraction, and it is a real a real credit to the team at the Winding House to have received recognition for the quality of visitor experience on offer."
The official VAQAS report concluded that the Winding House "clearly provides an important hub for the local community - past, present and future".
