>Blackwood Miners' Institute's sizzling new summer season is loaded with superb live music, top quality drama, brilliant comedy and imaginative children's theatre.
There's a cocktail of live music to suit all tastes! There's a very welcome dash of Celtic music courtesy of Welsh quintet Allan Yn Y Fan on Saturday 12 May and classic pop group Herman's Hermits prove they're still into something good on Saturday 26 May.
Internationally acclaimed jazz pianist Geoff Eales and his band Isorhythm fuse jazz and rock flavours on 31 May and Broadway & Beyond on 30 June promises a glittering evening of showtunes.
This summer, the 'Stute has bags of knockout drama. On Saturday 5 May there's a display of physical prowess in Ragroof Theatre's performance of Gloves On! exploring boxing and its place in British psyche. And don't forget to book a ringside seat for wrestling comedy Big Daddy Vs Giant Haystacks on Wednesday 9 May.
On Friday 6 July, multi-award-winning Theatre Ad Infinitum performs the emotionally punchy Translunar Paradise – a play about life, death, and enduring love. Audiences will be knocked out by Granny Annie from Monday 11 to Wednesday 13 June when Frank Vickery himself stars in the latest production of his funniest comedy of all time.
Families are fully catered for this season with lots of fun entertainment as part of the B3 live season. Kicking off is Theatr Iolo's clown and dance mix Out Of The Box on Tuesday 15 May. An adaptation of Judith Kerr's children's book The Tiger Who Went To Tea is on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 May.
There's shadow puppetry with an astonishing 3D finale in Swamp Juice on Thursday 24 May and Tall Stories - creators of the Gruffalo stage show - bring The Snail And The Whale on Wednesday 6 June.
If that's not enough, there's hilarious stand-up from Elis James on 27 April and don't forget the monthly 'Stute Comedy Nights!
