Turn out the lights for a brighter future

    27 March 2012

Anthony O'Sullivan, Chief Executive, Caerphilly County Borough Council

Caerphilly County Borough Council will be flicking the light switches off this Saturday (31st March) at 8.30pm, in support of the annual WWF Earth Hour and is encouraging all residents to follow suit.

Earth Hour is a global phenomenon which has stemmed from a simple idea - that across the planet, people will simultaneously turn off their lights for one hour.

The event aims to encourage people to do more for our planet, and to appreciate its beauty and brilliance, not just for that one hour, but every day of the year.

Anthony O'Sullivan, Chief Executive of Caerphilly county borough council, said, "We pride ourselves on being a sustainable organisation and we work hard to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible. The council is keen to show its support to the WWF by turning off our lights and I would encourage residents to join us."
