The Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough, Cllr Anne Collins has paid a visit to an innovative playscheme based at Caerphilly Leisure Centre.
During half term, the leisure centre teamed up with Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations (GAVO), to give local children the opportunity to take part in a diverse programme of indoor activities to brighten up their week off school.
As part of the five-day scheme, staff from GAVO provided supervised play sessions in the centre sports hall, including messy play, painting, dressing up, soft play and den building. Other popular activities on offer throughout the week were swimming, football and rugby.
Cllr Anne Collins, said, "The arts and crafts sessions have added a new touch to Caerphilly Leisure Centre's playscheme. Activities such as t-shirt making and dressing up appeared very popular with the young people, so I was thrilled to hear that this is just the beginning of a long-term partnership between Caerphilly Leisure Centre and GAVO."
