    10 August 2011

Caerphilly County Borough Council and their joint Trade Unions representatives (Unison, GMB) have wholeheartedly greeted the news of the new half a million pounds investment in providing training and development opportunities for young people in the county borough.

The authority has plans to put in place one hundred and fifty placements for people aged between 16 –25 yrs in 2011/12 and recruitment has already started.

Cllr Allan Pritchard, leader of council said, "I am really excited with the ideas being put forward as we want to give our young people the best chance of gaining real employment for the future. The Unions have shown great enthusiasm to join with the council in support this concept of real training for young people living in the county borough."

Cllr James Fussell - Cabinet Member for Human Resources said, "The whole council is backing this initiative and we will use the local job centres and make sure we apply a fair process to anyone who wants to apply to get their foot on the first rung of the job market."
