Keen photographers across the Caerphilly county borough are being encouraged to capture the spirit of the area and be in with the chance of having their pictures displayed at this year's Big Cheese Festival.

Caerphilly county borough council is running a photographic competition and the theme is 'Cauldrons and Furnaces' to celebrate the history and culture of the county borough. Participants are free to interpret this theme using their imagination.

This is a free competition for anyone living within the county borough and the best pictures will be displayed at the Big Cheese festival at 2pm on Sunday 26th July.

Up to 3 photos can be entered by e-mail or entrants can send a disc or any other digital media by post to Arts Development, Penallta House, Tredomen Park, Ystrad Mynach, Hengoed CF82 7PG.

Please include your contact details and title of the pictures submitted. Closing date for entry is 16th of July. The winning picture will win the entrant a digital camera worth over £100!

This competition has been created by Caerphilly county borough council's Arts Development Team and will form part of the exciting variety of activities that lead up to the counties Cultural Olympiad celebration in 2012. Other arts workshops will also take place in the main hall at the Big Cheese Festival on 24th to 26th July.
