Intrepid explorers can Go Wild! and Get Active! in Pontllanfraith this year at a popular family fun day.

Visitors to the free event can see a range of live animals including otters, owls, snakes, lizards, newts, slow worms, hedgehogs, butterflies and moths. Countryside staff will also be on hand to explain what we can all do to help these animals in the wild and in our back gardens.

Youngsters can have their face painted, build a home for an otter, make a bird box and much more! Find out about our feathery and furry friends in various countryside activities such as pond dipping and take part in nature's 'green gym' to see if you have what it takes to survive in the wild!

The event, which takes place on Saturday 6th June from 11 am to 4 pm at the Sir Harold Finch Memorial Park in Pontllanfraith (adjacent to the council offices), promises to offer a range of exciting outdoor events and activities for people of all ages.

As well as activities for children, adults will be able to have a go at Countryside Circuit Training and find out how looking after the natural world can keep us fit and healthy.

There will also be a chance of winning some fantastic prizes by entering competitions and quizzes.

This is the 5th Go Wild! event to be hosted by Caerphilly county borough council on behalf of the Caerphilly Biodiversity Partnership, as part of Wales Biodiversity Week.
