Caerphilly County Borough Council has released details of its new Adult Education programme for 2012-2013, offering ample opportunity for keen learners in the area to gain new skills and qualifications.

Adult learning in the county borough is hugely popular and exceptionally varied in what it can offer to members of the general public. From computer courses to pottery classes, there's an abundance of opportunities available for anyone wanting to further their education; no matter what age, ability or interest. Whether you're looking to learn new skills, engage in a new hobby or you are an employer looking to get that competitive edge, there's something for everyone within the programme.

Over 100 different courses are on offer, including languages, crafts, music, cookery, information technology and more. With affordable courses and easy enrolment at Adult Education Centres throughout the county borough in August and September, residents are encouraged to take advantage of the full variety on offer before spaces fill up.

In addition to providing courses for adults, the council also run three work specific projects; Working Skills for Adults, Bridges into Work and Genesis Wales 2. These projects aim to support people both in employment and unemployment, by improving skills, offering career guidance and increasing earning potential.

Working Skills for Adults aims to increase the ownership of generic, transferable skills across the workforce through both community and workplace based provision, whilst Bridges into Work provides a boost to individuals and companies by providing opportunities for retraining or improving skills in subjects that are in demand by employers. Genesis Wales 2 is a project to help individuals overcome many of the barriers they face when wanting to learn new skills or return to work, and it can help identify financial assistance or other advice in order to do so.

Full details of the courses on offer and how to enrol, plus further information on the Bridges Into Work, Working Skills for Adults, and Genesis Wales 2 Projects, can be found on the Adult Education web pages.
