>The former Woolworth store in Blackwood is to open its doors to shoppers once again following news that 'Poundland' is coming to town!
Cllr Ron Davies, CCBC cabinet member for regeneration said, "This is fantastic news for Blackwood and I'm sure the announcement will be welcomed by shoppers and the wider business community. We have worked hard over the last two years with the agents Cook & Arkwright to secure a tenant."
"The store enjoys a prominent position in the heart of the High Street and has been vacant since the closure of Woolworths. The opening of this popular discount store will plug a major gap in the town centre and will give shoppers another reason to visit Blackwood and enjoy the shopping experience."
"This news closely follows the announcement that the former Woolworth store in Bargoed is to get a new tenant, so we are delighted that the fortunes of our key town centres are looking up," added Cllr Davies.
