The poor summer weather has refused to put off local youngsters from attending a summer play scheme this year – St Cenydd Leisure Centre has invested in a fantastic Wii Sports to help get kids on the move!

The Wii uses sports games in order to enhance the level of knowledge of rules and personal skill based benefits of physical activities.

This has helped the youngsters learn how to improve their teamwork, communication and problem solving skills as they work together to reach goals set by the games.

The children are able to practice their batting techniques through the game along with learning the rules of various sports. This raises their knowledge and allows youngsters to enjoy sports without having to rely on the weather.

Thanks to the Wii, the children have been able to gain an insight into less exposed sports such as fencing and others, which perhaps they hadn't come across before and take an interest in sporting opportunities beyond the play scheme.

This can help broaden their sporting knowledge and will be very helpful in the future.
