Show you support and help Bedwas Bite Back!

    25 November 2010

Bedwas Workmen's Hall has been successful in reaching the final of ITV's 'Peoples Millions' competition.

The historic venue is in with a chance of securing £40,000 to help refurbish this popular community building – as long as enough people call in to register their support.

Cllr Ron Davies, CCBC cabinet member for regeneration and local ward member said, "I would encourage everyone to show their support and call the voting hotline to back this worthwhile cause. Bedwas Workmen's Hall is an important community building and this money would give the facility an exciting new future, so let's all get behind the appeal and give Bedwas a boost!"

The project, called 'Bedwas Bites Back', hopes to refurbish the old Workmen's Hall and restore the landmark building to its former glory. As well as refurbishing and equipping the centre, the building will house activities such as youth clubs, diverse adult classes, community productions and drama groups, school and professional productions, after school clubs, meeting facilities and creative art and media facilities.

The phone number for people to register their vote will be announced on Wednesday 24th November. Lines will be open from 9.00am until midnight.

Visit www.peoplesmillions.org.uk to find out details and telephone number. The centre will also feature on the ITV Wales evening news on Wednesday.
