Juicing it up with Google experts

    19 April 2012

The Council's BEST team with Google Experts

The first Google Juice Bar was held in the SE Wales Valleys area at Tredomen Business & Technology Centre, in Caerphilly County Borough. Local businesses had the opportunity to share a bottle of Google Juice with a Google Expert and gain free advice about getting or growing their business online.

Caerphilly played host to the first Google Juice Bar in the valleys region. These Juice Bars are part of a variety of Google events, which are aimed at helping local businesses get online. In a report commissioned by Google, it found that small businesses actively using the Internet had sales growth more than four times greater than less active companies. The Google events are part of the pan Wales Getting Welsh Business Online Campaign.

Local businesses had the opportunity to chat informally to the Google experts and found the sessions really helpful – whether they already had a web presence or were in the process of having a website built.

"We are delighted that our first Google Juice Bar has been an overwhelming success and given local businesses the opportunity to access free advice from the Google Experts. A number of the businesses had only just started an Internet site, so the relaxed atmosphere of the Google Juice Bar was ideal for them to ask as many questions as they wanted," said Jan Bennett, Business Enterprise Support Manager, Caerphilly County Borough Council. She continued, "We were fully booked in advance of the event and this bodes well for similar events which will be rolled out across the valleys area of Blaenau Gwent, Merthyr, Rhondda Cynon Taff and Torfaen."
