>Budding photographer Tomas Thorne (aged 10) of Newbridge has won a photography competition as part of a special countryside event.
Tomas was one of 150 walkers who took part in the 'Walk-In Caerphilly' event funded by the Cwm a Mynydd Partnership. All the walkers were invited to take photographs of interesting areas of countryside, impressive views or other walkers enjoying the event.
The photograph taken by Tomas was deemed by a panel of judges to be the best.
Tomas was awarded prizes including a 35 litre rucksack, waterproof ordnance survey maps of the county borough, a stainless steel flask, a framed copy of his winning photograph and other prizes donated by Caerphilly county borough council.
The event and competition was funded through the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007 – 2013 which is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
The event was also supported by Health Challenge Caerphilly County Borough.
