RWCMD and Caerphilly Music Service celebrate 10 years with Noye's Fludde

    28 February 2008

The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) and the Caerphilly Music Service are celebrating 10 years of their unique Music Education Partnership with a special Gala Performance. Audiences will be treated to an evening of Benjamin Britten's dramatic opera Noye's Fludde on Friday 14th March 2008 at Llandaff Cathedral (7.30pm).

The performance features over 200 performers, including students from RWCMD, professional musicians, members of Caerphilly Youth Orchestra, and pupils from Caerphilly borough secondary and junior schools. The performance is directed by RWCMD final year vocal student, Tom Jones as part of his vocational placement, and will be conducted by Head of Caerphilly Music Service, Dr Keith Ellerington.

This gala performance marks the finale of a series of workshops as part of the RWCMD's annual Schools Opera project which has been run by students of the Vocal department for over 10 years.

The event marks a hugely successful outreach and music development collaboration between Wales' National Conservatoire and the award-winning music service who have won National Music Council awards on a number of occasions.

Tickets for the performance are priced £2 and are available from Caerphilly Music Service on 01495 228948.
