>Caerphilly's streets will become a 'River of Light' later this week, when hundreds of people will cascade through Caerphilly town centre for the annual lantern parade.
Hundreds of people have been busily preparing their lanterns at workshops held at Caerphilly Leisure Centre every weekend this month ready for the main event!
The River of Light Lantern Parade is this Thursday 22nd December, beginning at 6.30pm.
The parade starts at the Caerphilly Interchange Park and Ride, and accompanied by thunderous samba drumming, dancing, costumed performers, giant sculptures and lots more, participants will weave their way through Caerphilly town centre, before reaching the finish point on Crescent Road.
A spectacular fireworks display against the backdrop of the magnificent Caerphilly Castle will provide the finale to the event.
Street Stars from Capital FM will also be out and about in the town centre on Thursday evening, and will be playing games with prizes aplenty to be won!
The River of Light Lantern Parade in Caerphilly is the finale of a busy events programme in Caerphilly county borough and a busy lantern parade programme, with events taking place across the county borough in locations including Blackwood, Aberbargoed, Risca and Gelligaer.
