A woman from Treharris has been taken to court by Caerphilly County Borough Council for a dog fouling offence.
Lisa Davies, of Cardiff Road, Treharris was taken to court after failing to pay a fixed penalty notice issued to her for allowing her dog to foul and then failing to pick it up at Gallagher Retail Park, Crossways, Caerphilly.
The case was heard at Newport Magistrates Court on Thursday 24th November – Davies did not attend therefore the case, under the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996, was proven in her absence.
She was ordered to pay a £200 fine, together with £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Cllr Rob Gough, Cabinet Member for Public Protection said, "I hope that prosecutions such as this one will act as a deterrent to the small minority of people who still feel it is acceptable to behave in this manner that it will not be tolerated. Where individuals fail to pay their fixed penalty notices, we pursue the case through the courts without exception".
