Pupils at a special school in Ystrad Mynach have marked the end of the Paralympic games in Beijing with a visit from a Wales rugby legend.
Trinity Fields School celebrated the close of the games and the handover to London with a visit from ex-Wales and British Lion Scott Quinnell.
The young people planned a special celebration, which ended in the Trinity Fields Olympic flame being paraded around the school hall by pupil John Philpotts and handed over to Scott Quinnell to mark the start of the London 2012 Paralympic Olympiad.
Jamie Scales, the school's sports teacher, organised as series of athletic events and Scott took the opportunity to join with the young people, many of them relishing the challenge of beating Scott across the line. Paul Taylor, Disability Sports Development Officer said "It is part of my role to ensure that people with disabilities, across the authority have the opportunities to take part in as many different sporting activities as possible. This event today has provided an inspiration to the young people of Trinity Fields and it was wonderful to see them celebrating the Paralympics."
On Tuesday 22nd September children with disabilities from across the authority have been invited to Cardiff for the homecoming event of the Welsh Paralympians, hopefully inspiring some Olympians for 2012 and beyond.
