A service that has recently won the Guardian and Virgin Media Business Innovation National Award for frontline services has had a 90% take up by people using the registrar service in Caerphilly County Borough.
The 'Tell Us Once' service is a DWP led initiative and makes innovative use of IT by sharing information quickly and securely with up to 28 government and council services, saving people having to notify them individually following a bereavement or birth.
Residents are offered the service whilst registering the death with the registrar; by enabling a number of central and local government departments to be informed of the bereavement, Tell Us Once removes on average, seven notifications that would need to be made by the family of the deceased.
Della Leigh Mahony, Registration Service Manager, said, "Tell Us Once is making a significant impact for residents during a difficult time. We are very pleased that we have been able to help so many families by offering this service."
