    Way Back Home

Children of all ages will have plenty to do this Easter holidays, with mask making workshops taking place at Blackwood Miners' Institute.

The workshops will take place on Thursday 28th April – the first session between 10am and 12.30pm and the second between 2pm and 4.30pm, and both are suitable for children aged between 7 and 11.

Children will be able to come along and unleash their creative side, and create some fantastic masks, inspired by the folklore and myths of Caerphilly county borough. The workshops cost £6 per child and old clothes are recommended.

The mask-making workshops are part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad celebrations in Caerphilly Borough, developed by Caerphilly Arts Service.

These workshops will coincide with award winning author, Oliver Jeffers' intergalactic tale of a little boy seeking adventure in 'The Way Back Home'. This performance will take place on the same day at 1.30pm.

One day, a little boy find a plane in his cupboard – he doesn't remember leaving it there, but he decides to take it out for a go right away!

He flies his plane higher and higher until he runs out of petrol and lands on the moon. He is frightened, lost and alone until a passing Martian lands there too. Who is the strange alien? Can they really be friends? And how will they find their way back home?

The production runs for 50 minutes and is suitable for children aged 3+ and families.

Tickets cost £6.50 and £5.50. A family ticket costs £22.

Blackwood Miners' Institute's success for bringing professional family theatre to audiences is ever increasing.
