>A unique comedy about the trials and tribulations of an amateur rugby team, set in the heart of the South Wales Valleys will make its debut at Blackwood Miners' Institute next month!
Following their successful tour of comedy show 'Bouncers', Black RAT Productions have joined forces with prolific playwright, John Godber to bring their latest offering – a brand new adaptation of the award winning rugby comedy Up 'n' Under: The Welsh Tour.
Coming to Blackwood Miners' Institute from Monday 3rd October until Wednesday 5th October, Up 'n' Under is the story of Arthur, a retired rugby player. After agreeing to an outrageous bet, he undertakes to train the local rugby sevens side – who can only muster four players to play in a match against the 'best side' in the Rhondda Valleys.
Enlisting the help of Hazel, who runs a bodybuilding gym, Arthur is confident of a win. The boys however do not share his optimism!
Co-produced by Blackwood Miners' Institute and RCT Theatres, Up 'n' Under has a talented cast of some of Wales' finest actors. This non stop comedy is given a genuine Welsh flavour and is packed with topical humour and rugby songs galore!
Sharon Casey, Manager at Blackwood Miners' Institute said, "Encouraging young people to come along and enjoy the theatre is a real priority of ours, and I am confident that Up 'n' Under is exactly the right kind of production that young people will want to come and see".
She continued, "We hope this will really help get them hooked on the power of live theatre, and for this to last a lifetime".
After the shows at Blackwood Miners' Institute, Up 'n' Under will then take to the road as it tours throughout Wales, plus dates in Bristol and London.
The tour is a co-production between Black RAT Productions, Blackwood Miners' Institute and RCT Theatres, with funding support from the Arts Council of Wales and the Welsh Government.
Tickets cost £12 and £10 for concessions. To book your tickets, please contact the Box Office at Blackwood Miners' Institute on 01495 227 206 or visit www.blackwoodminersinstitute.com
