>It's just 2 days until BBC Proms in the Park comes to Caerphilly! Preparations are underway with the set up of the main stage early next week. Boom boxes are on order, lighting and sound equipment organised and on their way!
This is the first outdoor concert ever staged in Caerphilly and a very exciting time for both Caerphilly County Borough Council and residents alike. The event is expected to attract thousands of people, some avid BBC Proms in the Park followers and many who have never experienced being part of BBC Proms before.
We've just had news that BBC Wales are locating Doctor Who's Tardis in Caerphilly Castle… from 6th – 12th September visitors can see the Tardis up close within the Castle walls.
What's more, on Saturday 10th September when Caerphilly town is turned into 'Fringefest' in celebration of BBC proms in the Park, Caerphilly Castle throws open its doors with the Civic Trust 'Open Door's' event, where entry to the Castle is free all day between 9.30am and 5pm. So come along to see this stunning medieval fortress for free. Inside the Castle between 10.30am – 4pm enjoy entertainment such as Twerlin the Wizard, Fiery Jack with Escapology, Dragon Stories and a Dragon Parade.
Take a stroll into Caerphilly town and enjoy 'Fringefest' with an eclectic mix of music, comedy, entertainment and art. From 12pm to 4pm unique street performances and music will captivate you from the moment you park your car, get off the train, step off the bus or walk into town. We invite you to come along dressed for the occasion. Why not dust off your wizard's cloak or don your fez!
There will be street sensations and comedic capers, exhibitions and workshops, eco activities and Welsh traditions, performing gargoyles, a miming clown, impromptu performances from costumed characters and The Dickens Brothers on penny farthings. Keep up to date on what's happening by following us on Facebook and Twitter.
If you are attending BBC Proms in the Park, why not arrive early and enjoy the magical atmosphere in the town and grab a bite to eat in one of the town's cafes or pubs.
