    Pupils celebrating their results

    Provisional examination results for Caerphilly county borough show that the percentage of pupils who achieved the Level 2 Threshold (5 GCSE passes at A*-C or vocational equivalent) has increased slightly to 61.3% up from 61.2% in 2010.

    This consolidates the significant gain made in 2010. The provisional results reflect the authority's commitment to provide a wide range of curriculum options for young people as part of the Learning Pathways 14-19 Agenda.

    The percentage of A*-G grades achieved is 96.7% and the percentage of grades awarded at A*-C is 58.6%.

    Cllr Phil Bevan, Cabinet Member for Education, Leisure and Lifelong Learning said, "Our young people and their teachers deserve to be congratulated on their achievements, commitment and tireless effort".

    Sandra Aspinall, Corporate Director for Education Lifelong Learning and Leisure said, "Once again, our provisional results demonstrate the hard work undertaken by our young people and their teachers".
