30 April 2012
>At the annual Flower Festival in Caerphilly on 26th & 27th May, a children's wheelbarrow competition will take place to get those little green fingers working!
It's your last chance to register your participation, with entries closing on Monday April 30th.
This year enthusiastic individuals and local groups are being encouraged to get involved in this fun project. Make gardening an enjoyable task rather than a chore, roll up those sleeves and be creative.
The event is now in its 8th year, and record-breaking displays from all sectors of the event are essential to make this the best one yet, offering more and more for the visitor to enjoy. With local churches and societies already planning their displays, this year is set to be blooming marvellous!
The theme this year is celebration and poetry so think explosions of colour and flowery pose.
The competition is open to individuals and organisations as long as the participants are under 16. The wheelbarrows will be displayed at the Caerphilly Tourist Information Centre during the In Bloom Flower Festival, visitors to the festival and other events taking place in the town on Saturday 26th May will be able to vote for their favourite Floral wheelbarrow and there will be a fantastic prize for the winning entry.
This really is a great way to get the children gardening and encourage them to use their imagination. A project to keep them happy for hours!
Look out for other exciting activities taking place on the same weekend including the Olympic Torch Relay and the NEW Caerphilly Food Festival on 26th May. There will be over 60 food and craft stalls, cookery demonstration programme, animal displays, children's activities and lots lots more to keep the whole family entertained.
