Pull your boots on for National Walking Month!

    Walking

As May marks National Walking Month, Caerphilly County Borough Council is encouraging all residents to get active by taking part in the Twmbarlwm Trek on May 12th.

Hardcore hikers had to pre-register for 23 mile and 14 mile walks through spectacular valleys' woodland, farmland, and across open moorland before trekking up and over the spectacular iron age hillfort of Twmbarlwm and 3 of the highest points in the county (Twmbarlwm, Mynydd Machen and Mynydd Islwyn).

For those who have not registered for the longer walks, never fear! The Monmouthshire - Brecon canal offers a range of shorter, flatter walks from one mile to five miles which will suit all abilities and fitness levels. No pre-entry or fee is required for the canal work, just turn up to Cwmcarn High School on the day at 10.15am.

Throughout May, further walks will be taking place in and around your area weekly. Whether you want to stroll around Bedwas or ramble in Crosskeys, there is a walk to suit everyone.
