>Last week Caerphilly County Borough Council organised an Olympic Hockey Day to show its support to local hockey star Sarah Thomas who is representing Wales in the British Hockey Squad at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
The indoor hockey day, which took place at St Cenydd Leisure Centre on Friday 8th of August, the same day the Olympic Games began, saw a mixture of coaches and members of Caerphilly County Borough's Hockey Development Team take part in a skills competition using the Olympic Hoops in the goal area.
The day was organised by Hockey Development Officer, Beverly Rogers, who works for the authority's Sports Development Team. Beverly is always on the lookout for new players for her team, which trains at Sue Noake Leisure Centre in Ystrad Mynach every Tuesday.
