>A major highway improvement scheme is due to start in Caerphilly next week (Monday 18th July).
The works, which are expected to last 10 weeks, will see improvements to the Trecenydd roundabout on the A468 / A469 (adjacent to St Cenydd Comprehensive School).
Cllr Rob Gough, CCBC cabinet member for transportation and planning said, "We plan to implement a number of improvements to the strategic network in and around the Caerphilly Basin to address traffic problems and ease congestion in the future. These important works at this key strategic location are necessary, but they will obviously lead to some disruption to motorists and we would urge as many people as possible to find alternative routes."
"I would like to apologise in advance for the disruption, but I'm sure motorists will understand that the long term benefits will far outweigh the short term inconvenience of these works," he added.
Construction Details as follows: -
- Start date 18 July 2011 (school summer holidays targeted to minimise disruption).
- Duration 10 weeks.
- Working hours Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 3.30pm. Possibility of weekend working during the summer.
- Signs giving advance notice of the works will be erected w/c 11th July.
As the works progress, road closures may become necessary and alternative routes will be advertised in advance.
