The new Caerphilly county borough museum, the Winding House in New Tredegar, is appealing for local people to help with a new exhibition called Caerphilly County Borough and the Second World War.
The exhibition will focus on the daily lives of men and women in the area throughout the 1940s and how the War impacted upon them and their loved ones.
Local people are being urged to come forward with any photographs or objects which they would be willing to loan or even donate for the exhibition.
Museums and Heritage Officer, Emma Wilson says "Although the Second World War was a worldwide event, we would like to ensure the stories we tell in our exhibition are as local as possible. We are very keen to include as many photographs and objects relating to local people as we can.
We would be delighted to accept either loans or donations to the museum collection – not just of photographs, but of objects such as uniform, objects relating to the ARP or Home Guard, letters home from those on active service, or even ordinary every day items that were used during the war.
All objects and photographs will be carefully looked after during the exhibition and we are more than happy to arrange for photos to be scanned and copied if the owners do not want to loan their originals."
The exhibition will open in late August and will last for 6 months.
