A huge earth sculpture in the shape of a giant pit pony is to be showcased on BBC's The One Show.

'Sultan' the pit pony is the UK's largest figurative earth sculpture and is located in Parc Penallta near Ystrad Mynach. The impressive artwork has been carved from the spoil of a former coal tip in the heart of the South Wales Valleys.

Parc Penallta has become a popular visitor destination thanks to its walking trails with audio guides, sculptures, water features, cycle routes and educational opportunities.

The park has recently been included in the 'Top 10 Woodland Sculpture Trails' in the UK . The prestigious list, compiled by the Woodland Trust, highlights the top destinations where visitors can enjoy stunning sculptures in a countryside setting.

Norman Liversuch, Manager of CCBC's Countryside and Landscape Services said, "We are delighted that Parc Penallta is receiving this well-deserved attention as it really is a 'hidden gem' in the heart of the county borough. All of our 5 country parks have special features and attractions and I would encourage local people to visit and explore them."
