Staff at Caerphilly CBC are undertaking a special pedometer challenge to encourage more people to put their best foot forward in an effort to be fitter and greener.

Only 3 weeks into the challenge and those taking part have already walked 35,800 miles. That's equivalent to walking to New Zealand - twice! They're on track to walk 132,614,000 steps, two and half times round the world, during the five week challenge.

Norman Liversuch, Manager Countryside and Landscape Services said, "All the teams and individuals participating have improved week on week. By taking part in this challenge they are all improving their health and having plenty of opportunity to see the beautiful parks and walks Caerphilly County Borough has to offer."

Competing in teams, they have plotted virtual routes such as Blackwood to John O' Groats, with everyone having completed over 60% with two weeks still to go.

The top stepper has walked 83 miles in just two weeks!
