Snow at Dafydd Williams Park, Caerphilly

It is anticipated that the Caerphilly county borough will experience periods of heavy snowfall overnight. The adverse weather conditions could continue tomorrow (Tuesday), so steps are being taking by the authority to ensure that any disruption to local services is kept to a minimum.

Staff are being encouraged to make all reasonable efforts to attend their place of work and it is expected that all council buildings will remain open - even if this is with a 'skeleton staff'.

Highways staff are working hard to ensure that local roads are salted and 24 hour cover is being put in place to keep the area's main routes open. During or following snowfall we will start ploughing the busier roads first, then move on to other smaller roads to gradually clear the network. Roads with traffic calming humps and cushions may not be ploughed as these features can damage the ploughs.

If local schools decide to close then this information will be passed on to the local radio stations and posted onto the website so that parents are kept informed.
