Safer Caerphilly Community Safety Partnership is urging revellers to stay safe, stay together this Christmas, as part of their festive campaign.
The Partnership are encouraging people throughout the borough to be aware of the potential dangers of being left alone and vulnerable after drinking alcohol and want people to make a special effort to look out for each other, stay together and make sure no friend is ever left alone at the end of the night.
Maria Evans, Lead Officer for the Substance Misuse Action Team, who are championing the campaign for the partnership said: "We want to ensure everyone out celebrating the Christmas season in Caerphilly does so safely and is fully aware of the importance of not only planning their night out but also planning how they are going to get home safely at the end of it.
"Throughout the year our message to people is always drink responsibly but we are aware that during the party season people often drink more than they would usually do leaving them more vulnerable than they might normally be.
"This is the time when you might need your friends the most so our message is if you go out together make a pledge to stay together.
"At the end of the night try to ensure no-one is left alone and stay safe, stay together." The Partnership are also supporting the Cab Safe scheme championed locally by Caerphilly County Borough Council, a text message service which can provide people with a list of local cab firms if they find themselves without a means of getting home.
By just texting the word CAB to 83222 you will receive the contact details of three licensed taxi firms operating in your area. The service was launched in 2008 by Caerphilly Borough Council in conjunction with the four other authorities in Greater Gwent and Gwent Police.
Cllr Rob Gough, Cabinet Member for Public Protection, Engineering and Transport said, "Cab Safe is great in that it offers peace of mind to those who find themselves without a taxi at the end of the night, and helps ensure they get home safe and sound via a fully licensed and regulated taxi company."
He continued, "I cannot stress enough how important it is to only use the services of fully licensed taxis. If in any doubt at all, please do make use of this fantastic scheme, and help ensure that this Christmas and New Year period is a safe and enjoyable one for all".
