A trip down memory lane in New Tredegar

    13 November 2007

Local people will get the chance to take a trip down memory lane next week (Wednesday 21st November) as a series of short films about life in New Tredegar are given a special preview.

The films have been created by The Winding House as part of a project to help local people record their stories and memories of life in and around Elliot Colliery.

Staff at The Winding House have been working with residents to turn their stories and memories into entertaining short films which recall many aspects of life in the village. From amusing tales of sneaking into the cinema, to recollections of family members who worked in the rescue station, there is sure to be something for everyone!

The screening will take place at White Rose Resource Centre, New Tredegar starting at 7pm. These fascinating stories will become part of the new displays in The Winding House Museum which opens next year. The Winding House will be the museum for Caerphilly County Borough. It will tell the history of the County Borough from prehistory to the present day.

If you have any stories you can add, or any local historic photographs we could use, we’d love to hear from you.

Places are limited for this free and popular event and booking is essential - please contact

The Winding House project is financed by the European Union's Objective 1 Programme, the Welsh Assembly Government and Caerphilly County Borough Council.
