>The crucial role played by Caerphilly county borough council's website in providing information to local residents during the recent severe weather was highlighted this week.
The section of the website that provides information about school closures and other snow-related advice received over 31,000 hits over the last 4 days.
Parents and carers flocked to the site to find out the latest school updates and residents could also get up to date information about traffic and travel, refuse collections and social services etc.
Cllr Colin Mann, deputy leader of council, said, "These figures clearly show that many people now rely on the council's website to receive all the latest news and information as it happens. The site has become a critical part of our communications toolkit and we will continue to build on this success and develop the website to meet the demands of our residents 24/7."
