A Bargoed business specialising in lens technology has a clear vision for the future.
Pole Optical is a successful local venture and operates as part of Bargoed Sight Centre which is located in the heart of the town centre.
The firm manufactures ophthalmic lenses by grinding and polishing semi-finished lenses and fitting them into frames. The team, led by Robin Lewis, is working with Caerphilly county borough council to move the business forward and were recently awarded a grant to help invest in new technology.
Pole Optical started in business 8 years ago by buying in finished lenses and cutting them to fit customer lenses, but they now produce a consistent, quality product using the latest technology and employing skilled workers.
With the help of European Objective 1 funding, Pole Optical have invested heavily in their business, upgrading their computer equipment and more recently purchasing a new polishing machine.
Robin Lewis, the Director, said, "Eyesight is one of our most precious assets and we intend to provide an excellent quality product for the ophthalmic industry. We employ local people and take a pride in supplying to opticians across the country who also value their customer service. Our new polishing equipment will help us to provide the consistently high standard that our customers demand."
