Caerphilly Mountain getting ready for its moment to shine!

    Caerphilly Mountain

    A series of landscape, biodiversity and access improvements have been undertaken in the Caerphilly Mountain area.

    The Olympic Torch is set to begin its journey through Caerphilly from Watford road, before making its way through the town and past Caerphilly Castle on Saturday 26th May.

    Visual improvements have been made including the building of a dry stone wall near Watford Road, a series of paths have also been opened up to allow all weather access so residents can take advantage of the stunning views that are on offer, particularly of the town and lower Rhymney Valley.

    Wildlife enhancements have also been undertaken, including the removal of scrub and pond improvements.

    Pat Mears, Head of Regeneration and Planning said, "These works will improve pedestrian access to the mountain from Caerphilly, which will enable our residents and visitors to take full advantage of the beautiful landscape surrounding us."
