Blackwood bus station users are being reminded by Trading Standards that anyone caught disregarding the smoking ban at the premises faces being fined.

Cllr Rob Gough, Cabinet Member for Public Protection said, "Anyone caught flouting the law by smoking in enclosed public spaces where they shouldn't be, is liable for a fixed penalty notice of £50, with prosecution a very real possibility if the fine isn't paid".

He continued, The smoking legislation was introduced for a reason, and anyone who decides to disregard this legislation must face the consequences".

Smoke free legislation came into force in Wales in April 2007, ending smoking in enclosed and substantially enclosed public spaces.
