A special resource pack has been developed for schools in the Caerphilly county borough to help teach pupils important lessons about sustainability.
The 'green boxes' help support local schools that are incorporating Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship into their curriculum.
Nineteen of the special resource boxes have been developed containing books, CDs, DVDs, artefacts, curriculum links, lesson plans and lots more.
All schools across the Caerphilly county borough will get the chance to reserve the resource boxes for a half term period.
Three versions of the boxes have been developed to suit the various age groups of pupils:
Primary School Resource Boxes - School Grounds, Mini Beast Grab & Go Kits, Fairtrade & Global Citizenship, Waste Audits, Music and Recycling
Primary / Secondary School Resource Boxes - Composting, Recycled Papermaking, Energy, Generic Recycling, Recycling Displays
Secondary School Resource Boxes - Waste Audits, Fairtrade & Global Citizenship
The resource boxes will also support schools working through the Eco Schools award scheme, which encourages schools to improve their sustainability by focusing on waste minimisation, litter, energy, water, healthy living, school grounds, transport and global citizenship.
The boxes have been developed by Caerphilly county borough council's Sustainable Development and waste minimisation teams in partnership with Keep Wales Tidy, ESIS and the Mid Glamorgan Enabling Effective Support Forum. They have been funded by the Caerphilly County Borough Beacons Grant Scheme and the Mid Glamorgan Enabling Effective Support Forum.
