Caerphilly county borough council is leading the way in Wales by launching a new-look website offering a range of interactive services and an engaging, easy-to-use navigation style.
The council's popular website, which attracts nearly three quarters of a million hits each year, has been completely revamped and the new version makes it much easier for local people to do business with the council, as well as helping to promote the area on a world-wide platform.
The improved site has a clearer design and extra features to make it more user-friendly for local residents and businesses. Interactive features on the new site mean that engaging the council online has become even easier. Visitors can search for a library book, apply for a job, pay a bill, search for council documents - all at the click of a mouse.
An improved and updated A to Z of council services has been included, as well as an improved search facility making it easier for people to find the information or service that they are looking for.
A wider range of information on council services is also available and the website has also been redesigned to make it more accessible to people with disabilities.
"Residents increasingly expect to deal with the council online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and our new website means they can do just that. We are a forward-looking organisation and we are keen to ensure we keep abreast of the latest Internet technology to improve the way we deliver services to local people," said Leader of Council, Cllr Lindsay Whittle.
Use of the council website continues to increase, with latest figures showing over 70,000 hits per month. Anyone with an Internet connection can access the website, and it can also be viewed on PCs in every library in the county borough.
