02 October 2008
Fans of poems and prose will get the chance to celebrate National Poetry Day at a special event taking place in Blackwood next week.
A poetry evening will take place on Thursday 9th October in the Lower Bar at Blackwood Miners' Institute from 7:00pm - 9:00pm.
This cabaret-style celebration will include performances of poetry created in community workshops, performances by local poets and plenty of family fun.
All this will take place against the backdrop of a beautiful set created by local artists and schools in celebration of this year's 'Big Draw'.
During the afternoon of the 9th October, from 2:00pm - 5:00pm, the bar area will be open to the public. Come along to colour, scribble, draw, sculpt and get stuck in to creating the installation, then see the performance take place within it.
Schools are working on pictures for the installation and prizes for their 'Big Draw' competition will also be given out during this special evening celebration.
This FREE event is not to be missed. Contact the box office for more information on 01495 227206.
