>Caerphilly will be blooming later this month when the 4th annual Flower Festival is held in the town centre on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June.
Local churches will be bursting with brightly coloured floral displays and exhibitions whilst the town will be bustling with a craft fayre, children's activities, competitions and animal displays. The event will provide something for the whole family to enjoy whether you're young or old, visiting alone or in a group, the event has great appeal.
Local churches and places of worship around the town will be involved in the event, opening their doors and welcoming visitors to view the fine floral displays that have been created by members of their congregation.
A free open top bus will be a key feature of the event hosting a hop on hop off service for visitors to enjoy the sights of the town centre whilst visiting the participating venues to view their splendid floral displays.
CADW, the Welsh Assembly Governments historic environment service, are offering visitors the opportunity to explore Caerphilly Castle at a reduced rate for the weekend. They are offering a 2 for 1 deal on entry into the Castle, with the lowest priced ticket gaining free entry!
This year's event has some new features including the 'Kid's Go Wild' events, which consists of meet the reptiles and owls, pot a plant, face painting, bird box making, schools floral wheelbarrow competition, giveaways, drumming, puppetry and workshops with Glamorgan Bird Club, all of which are free. Another addition to the events programme is a photography competition where visitors with a digital camera can photograph their favourite part of the Flower Festival, submit their photo and win a prize. This will be run in conjunction with Caerphilly Camera Club and is free to enter.
