    Walkers in the countryside

Do you enjoy the countryside? Are you interested in countryside access? Then you may be interested in joining the Caerphilly Local Access Forum.

Over the past 9 years the Forum has played a very active role in the designation of Open Access Land, the preparation and implementation of a Rights Of Way Improvement Plan for the county and the improvement of access in country parks and the wider countryside.

The Forum is a statutory body, which has been set up by Caerphilly County Borough Council to advise the authority, the Welsh Government, the Countryside Council for Wales and others as to the improvement of public access to land in the county borough for the purposes of open-air recreation and the enjoyment of the county borough.

The Forum can have up to 22 members and in the past members have included representatives of landowners and farmers; walking, horse riding, cycling and off road organisations as well as the general public, community councils, the less able and wildlife groups.

The council is seeking to appoint members for a new Forum, which will have its first meeting in early December 2011. The closing date for applications to become a member is 4th November 2011.

For application forms and further information on the Forum please contact Norman Liversuch, Secretary Caerphilly Local Access Forum 01495 235312.
