A rugby event taking place next week will promote the message that healthy living for men needn't be trying.
The Big Tackle at Caerphilly Rugby Club on Wednesday, February 27th offers a fun-packed day of rugby, culminating in a match featuring the Gwent Dragons Under 16's (kick off 7:15pm), and is a way of breaking down barriers to reach men and boys on health issues which they often shy away from.
Comprehensive School pupils from throughout the Caerphilly County Borough will be competing in a schools 7's tournament and every one who takes part will receive a Canterbury t-shirt carrying the slogan 'check your tackle' and a free healthy packed lunch. At half time during the main event under 8's from Bedwas, Caerphilly, Sengenydd and Machen will be put through their paces in special exhibition matches.
The event is being run by Caerphilly Council's Sports Development TeaHealth Challenge Caerphilly who aim to improve the health of county borough residents by focusing on key health and lifestyle issues such as smoking and healthy eating.
The event is free but donations are requested for Caerphilly's mayor's chosen charities – Cancercareline and St David's Foundation Hospice.
