Festive fun brings Christmas cheer to town centres

    The festive season is fast approaching, and with it comes a wonderful mix of events to help get Caerphilly county borough residents in the Christmas spirit.

    Cllr Ron Davies, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Planning welcomes the benefits that these events will bring to town centres across Caerphilly county borough, "I'm sure that our programme of activities in key town centres will not only provide residents and visitors with a blend of festive cheer, shopping opportunities and entertainment, but a real opportunity for local retailers to boost their business in the run up to Christmas."

    Cllr Davies continued, "I would encourage as many people as possible to support our town centres and help give the local economy a boost during this key trading period".

    Residents and visitors can look forward to a whole host of festive events including:

    • Blackwood Christmas Market on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th December. See the town centre come to life with stalls along the high street, funfair rides and traditional entertainment along with Santa and his reindeers. Blackwood Christmas lights switch on – Saturday 3rd December at 4pm.
    • Caerphilly Christmas lights switch on - Friday 25th November at 7pm. Caerphilly Medieval Christmas Fayre on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th December. With over 100 traders, plus activities and entertainment for all the family, experience the sights, smells and sounds of a town and castle preparing for Christmas. Entry into the Castle is at a fee, although much of the entertainment around the town is FREE!
    • Bargoed Open Air Ice Rink between 15th and 18th December at St Gwladys Car Park.
    • Bargoed Christmas Market on Saturday 17th December. Located on Bargoed High Street with local crafts and seasonal food stalls, the entertainment also includes various street entertainers, children's entertainment and a Santa's Grotto. A fireworks display will close the event.
