A high visibility presence and multi agency working to tackle anti-social behaviour and underage drinking in the Crosskeys area is producing pleasing results.
Over a number of weekends, Caerphilly County Borough Council's team of Community Safety Wardens and the Risca Neighbourhood Policing Team have been targeting anti-social behaviour and underage drinking in the Crosskeys area, with a particular focus on Waunfawr Park.
Officers have been conducting high visibility patrols of the area, as well as speaking to young people about their behaviour. In total, officers confiscated 92 containers of alcohol and submitted 15 referrals for anti-social behaviour.
Community Safety Warden Supervisor Stuart Luckwell said, "Anti-social behaviour is a current PACT priority for the Crosskeys area, and from talking to local residents we know that it is an issue which they would very much like to see tackled.
We hope that by working with our colleagues at Gwent Police on high visibility operations such as this, we are taking significant steps towards ensuring that a small minority of people will not get away with affecting the quality of life of the majority."
PC Leah Waters, Ward Officer for Crosskeys, said: "We are continuing to target anti-social behaviour in Crosskeys in order to further improve the quality of life for local residents. We will continue our proactive patrols, particularly concentrating on areas that residents have highlighted are of most concern to them."
The Community Safety Wardens and Risca Neighbourhood Policing Team will continue to focus on the area, to build on the excellent work undertaken in the area to date.
The next PACT meeting for the Crosskeys ward will be held on Wednesday 3rd June at St Catherine's Church, Crosskeys at 6:30pm.
The meeting is designed to shape the way the community is policed and managed, by addressing current concerns highlighted at the meeting.
