Olympic diver Tom Daley visits Heolddu Leisure Centre

Pupils from Heolddu Comprehensive, who take part in the 5x60 project run by Caerphilly County Borough Council's Sports Development Team, had a fantastic treat when diving sensation Tom Daley joined them for a diving workshop.

Tom who had recently returned from Florida, found time to visit the school in between his busy training schedule and schoolwork. The visit was a treat for both pupils and staff as Tom's dedication was inspirational.

The aim of the visit was to raise the awareness of the Flip 'n' Fun Sessions, which are free swim structured sessions that were introduced into Caerphilly county borough last year. The sessions consist of an Aquatic workshop that introduces children to basic techniques of diving and can only be carried out in a minimum depth of 1.8 metres.

Cllr. Phil Bevan, Cabinet Member for Education and Leisure said, "It was a fantastic opportunity for all the pupils that met Tom during his visit, especially for those who were able to dive alongside him. It was a pleasure to have him visit our borough and I hope that he enjoyed the day as much as we did."
